Expand Your Global Horizons for a Career Edge

NYU SPS Global Field Intensive (GFI) courses are short-term study abroad opportunities that take you to the places where the latest trends in business, politics, and society are happening in real time. Each year NYU SPS divisions organize multiple opportunities to join a GFI, and many are open to students from across SPS and NYU with proper approvals. Upcoming and recent GFIs are below with the contact information of the sponsoring department.

Frequently Asked Questions

Due to the possibility of program cancellations, students should not purchase flight tickets for their chosen GFI until specifically instructed to do so by their division or faculty member. Further, students are strongly encouraged to purchase refundable tickets or flight insurance for added protection as NYU will not provide reimbursement for canceled flights.

It depends. If you are participating in a GFI that is offered by your division, it is likely that the course will fulfill your degree requirements. However, you should consult with your advisor when applying to any GFI, regardless of which division is offering it.

GFI courses are taught by NYU SPS full-time faculty with the support of an NYU SPS administrator who also travels with the group. For faculty questions about GFI courses, contact us at sps.global@nyu.edu.

Some GFIs are open to undergraduates who may be required to speak to their advisers for permission. Read more about the GFI you are interested in.

If you would like to participate in any of the GFIs listed above, speak to your advisor or contact the division that is offering the program to learn more.
