Grounded in the guidelines established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), we offer proficiency exams for more than 30 languages. Point scoring is equivalent to undergraduate-level language study at US colleges, and is used by many universities to grant academic credit or advanced placement in your language of study. Please see the Oral Template PWM Language Proficiency Test Score to College Credit Equivalency. The test also may be used for those who require it for professional purposes, such as teachers who need certification or verification of language proficiency; government or law enforcement officials who seek career advancement; or individuals who wish to establish linguistic competence for business objectives, such as a promotion or job placement.
Language proficiency tests are offered exclusively online through a convenient, remotely-proctored platform. Results for exams are issued within two to three weeks of the testing date, and scores are valid for three years.
In addition to the exam/registration fees, there is an hourly proctoring fee paid directly to our online proctoring service partner. For the first hour of the exam, there is a charge of $25.00. For every additional hour, a charge of $13.50 will be added. These rates are set by the proctoring service and are subject to change.
(Refunds are only allowed for people who have not taken their exam and you must request a refund by the end date of the semester you have registered. End dates vary based on each semester and are listed on each exam webpage.)
Our testing vendor, ProctorU, continuously assesses and updates their product and materials to meet the high standards and accessibility best practices established within the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
