Katelynn Wiseman is a current student who took the leap and moved from the West Coast to NYC to pursue her degree. We recently spoke with her to learn more about her experience in the program so far.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Katelynn was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Las Vegas, with a three-year stint in China. Now, as a student at NYU SPS, she's making the most of her time in New York City. Her interests go beyond academics—she's passionate about fashion, cooking, Pilates, and running, which help her maintain a balanced lifestyle. &quot;These activities allow me to stay grounded, both physically and mentally, which is crucial to my well-being as a student and future professional,&quot; Katelynn explains.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Inspired by Las Vegas real estate developer Steve Wynn, Katelynn developed a passion for real estate development early on. When she visited NYU, she knew it was the perfect fit. &quot;Being in the heart of New York City offers unparalleled opportunities to engage with the industry firsthand,&quot; she says. The city's bustling atmosphere and SPS' renowned program in real estate set the stage for a unique and rewarding academic experience.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Currently, Katelynn is taking a Real World course at SPS focused on the Rynnwood project. Though the course has just started, she already sees how it differs from traditional classroom learning.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">The opportunity to present their ideas to the real property owners who are renovating the project adds an extra layer of excitement. This kind of hands-on experience is invaluable for Katelynn, providing her with a practical understanding of how to communicate and execute a vision in a professional setting.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">One highlight of Katelynn's time at NYU so far has been receiving a WiRE scholarship. In recognizing her hard work and dedication to real estate this scholarship highlights the importance of supporting and uplifting women in the industry. &quot;[It] serves as a reminder that I am part of a community that values diversity, ambition, and the advancement of women in real estate,&quot; she shares.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Katelynn appreciates how NYU SPS serves as a pre-professional school, pushing students to deeply explore their fields of interest. She credits the adjunct faculty for not only teaching academic content but also providing insights from their industry experiences. &quot;Their knowledge and connections make a huge difference,&quot; she shares. The exposure to real-world content and direct engagement with professionals have made her learning experience enriching and rewarding.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">While Katelynn hasn't yet settled on specific post-graduation plans, her passion for the hotel asset class is clear. &quot;Anything related to this field will bring me immense satisfaction,&quot; she says. She is eager to explore various opportunities in the hotel industry and make her mark in the space.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">At NYU SPS, Katelynn has benefited from a variety of events and conferences that connect students with top industry executives. Through the Distinguished Speaker Series and larger conferences hosted by NYU, she regularly engages with professionals who provide insights into the ever-changing landscape of real estate. &quot;These opportunities keep us well-prepared,&quot; she explains.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Katelynn encourages new students to fully immerse themselves in the SPS community. &quot;NYU may be a large school, but SPS offers a more tight-knit community,&quot; she says.
