<p>Charles Dorn's career in hospitality began in New York, with a notable educational chapter at the University of Houston's Hilton College. His career took off at Hilton Hotels, with a unique experience in Anchorage, Alaska, before he returned to New York to work in the private club sector. His career evolved further in 2006 when he started his consulting practice, focusing on operational consulting, strategic planning, and executive search within the private club industry.</p> <p>Dorn's commitment to education has been a consistent thread throughout his career. His students have benefited from hands-on projects with renowned establishments, such as a regenerative farming project with a Michelin Star restaurant and a repositioning project for the Hilton Midtown. These opportunities provide students with invaluable insights and practical skills, preparing them for successful careers in the hospitality industry.</p> <p>One of Dorn's most memorable projects involved a collaboration with Danielle Boulud, a top chef in New York. &quot;They got to spend three hours with a Michelin chef, which is not something everyone gets the opportunity to do,&quot; he recalls.</p>

I teach students to evolve with it,&quot; he says. For him, people skills and staying informed about industry trends and political landscapes are essential to be part of the future of hospitality. &quot;It's crucial to always be open to new ideas and not be afraid to change and try new things,&quot; he advises.</p> <p>A firm believer in lifelong learning, Dorn continually seeks new knowledge and encourages his students to do the same. &quot;You cannot ever stop learning,&quot; he insists. This commitment to ongoing education and evolution is what he believes makes a great leader in hospitality. Attention to detail and striving to improve every day are also key components of his teaching philosophy.</p> <p>As an avid traveler and foodie, Dorn's own experiences as a guest in the hospitality industry inform his teaching. One memorable experience was dining at Emeril Lagasse's restaurant in New Orleans, where the entire meal was served by the kitchen staff. &quot;The way we were treated and the quality of the food were outstanding,&quot; he recalls.
