<p><span class="p-body">For Jimmy Pang, to get ahead in finance is more than being great with numbers—it’s about understanding markets, navigating risk, and thinking critically. With a background in economics from Northwestern University and a CFA designation, Pang’s career has taken him from managing global portfolios at AllianceBernstein to serving as CIO at Bocom International in Hong Kong. But in 2014, he made a pivotal decision to return to his hometown of New York to pursue two dreams: entrepreneurship and teaching. Now, he teaches in the NYU SPS <a href="/content/sps-nyu/certificates/investment-management.html" target="_blank">Certificate in Investment Management</a> program, where he merges real-world application with academic rigor to prepare students for success in finance.</span></p>
Top Industry Expertise in the Classroom
<p><span class="p-body">The hands-on nature of the Investment Management program mirrors Pang’s daily work with family offices. “I love sharing real case studies—like walking students through an actual stock selection process, risk analysis, or dissecting real market events with in-class ‘morning meetings,’” he says. With experience as both an investor and an entrepreneur—he co-founded Gotham Archery in 2014—Pang also integrates lessons from running a business into his teaching, helping students understand decision-making under uncertainty.</span></p>
