Q: Can you describe your internship role and what a typical day looked like?
A: I work as a Digital Editor for a holistic health podcast, The School of Higher Consciousness. Every day is different for me! Most days involve editing podcasts using an AI editing platform that allows me to line edit audio and video. I also manage a monthly email subscription for listeners and create promotional content to accompany those emails. All the behind-the-scenes work I do on the podcast is later posted in short clips to social media platforms to attract new listeners and fill previous ones in on the focus of the new week’s episode.

Q: What made you interested in pursuing this particular internship?
A: I work in the healthcare field as a Document Editor, so this internship allows me to stay in my preferred field while getting to access a more creative side of my writing. I was drawn in by the freedom I have at this position to use my skills, but also grow in new areas I have yet to explore professionally.

Q: How did the MSPW program help prepare you for this internship?
A: The MS in Professional Writing (MSPW) prepared me to be a Digital Editor by highlighting the importance of clarity and conciseness in each course I took. I built a strong foundation in the basics of using language that appeals to my specific audience when editing pieces and applied that foundation to this position. I am able to focus more on my audience’s needs because of my ability to understand specific edits that need to be made quickly.
