What product or service does Fashion Exchange offer?

The Fashion Exchange is transforming the way wholesalers and retailers connect and thrive with its B2B membership platform, designed to foster collaboration and industry engagement while emphasizing convenience and sustainability for long-term success. With a user-friendly interface and a commission-based marketplace, the platform also provides essential tools for brand innovation, real-time trend forecasting, and early access to fabric selections and market insights, empowering retailers to make informed decisions ahead of each season launch. Leveraging state-of-the-art 3D technology, Fashion Exchange allows members to visualize fabrics and materials as they hang and flow in a way that replicates an in-person experience, accessible from anywhere in the world.

How did you come up with the idea for this business?

Fashion Exchange was inspired by my experiences in wholesale and buying, where inefficiencies frequently held brands back. Interning with retailers like Saks and Bergdorf Goodman, I saw brands struggle with surplus inventory, logistical challenges, and a lack of real-time data. Managing stores back home and working with manufacturers in South Korea and China confirmed these issues were widespread. Fashion Exchange is my solution—a digital platform to streamline the supply chain, enabling brands and retailers to connect with real-time analytics, trend insights, and an intuitive ordering system. My goal is to support sustainable operations, reduce waste, and simplify the journey from concept to consumer.

Why did you decide to participate in the HI Hub Incubator program?

I joined the HI Hub Incubator program for its invaluable resources, mentorship, and community support—key assets for a new entrepreneur. As someone passionate about transforming the fashion supply chain, I saw this as a chance to advance Fashion Exchange with insights from seasoned professionals. The program also offers a space to connect with like-minded innovators, challenging and expanding my vision for the platform. This guidance will accelerate Fashion Exchange's growth and establish a solid foundation for long-term success in a fast-evolving industry.

What do you enjoy most about creating your own startup?

What I enjoy most about creating my own startup is the freedom to bring a vision to life while solving real issues in fashion. Founding my clothing store at 17 sparked my passion for both business and fashion. Building Fashion Exchange allows me to combine these interests with a drive for sustainability and efficient operations in an industry I know well. My roles in wholesale, buying, and marketing have shown me the supply chain's inefficiencies, like surplus inventory and logistical bottlenecks. Every step of building Fashion Exchange is a valuable learning experience. From managing my store to interning at major fashion companies, I’ve gained key insights that give me confidence to tackle these challenges and create solutions for the industry.

What advice would you give to someone contemplating founding a startup?

If you're starting a business, it’s essential to understand the problem you’re solving and stay flexible to adapt as needed. Building a company is a journey—testing ideas, gathering feedback, and adjusting along the way. Surround yourself with supportive mentors and friends who offer valuable insights and challenge you. Embrace failure as a chance to learn. Break your goals into steps, enjoy the process, and stay committed. With persistence, you’ll bring your ideas to life.

What is something you learned through this process that you wish you’d known before starting your business?

Before starting my startup, I wish I had understood the importance of truly knowing my customers' needs. While focused on my vision, I overlooked market research and feedback, which are essential for aligning with real demand. I also underestimated the importance of cash flow management and budgeting. Growing a brand is exciting, but without solid finances, even great ideas can struggle.

What does the future of your startup look like in an ideal world?

Fashion Exchange aims to be a global digital platform that redefines collaboration between fashion retailers and wholesalers, enabling seamless interaction between designers, brands, and sellers without physical storefronts. By 2028, we plan to onboard 2,500 brands and 10,000 retailers, helping them reduce excess inventory by 20% through digital tools like fabric and design visualization, market trend analysis, and a career center for skilled professionals. Our platform will also promote sustainability, helping brands cut fabric waste by 15% by 2026 through data-driven forecasting for better seasonal planning. Starting in 2027, we’ll host semi-annual virtual summits to foster collaboration on sustainable practices. Additionally, we aim to introduce a 3D virtual try-on feature to boost online conversions by 8% and reduce returns.

Have you worked with any alumni or mentors on this project? If so, who and what was that experience like?

I’m working with mentors like Alex Aydin, David Falter, Douglas Rice, Robin Wilson, and Stephani Cheun, whose expertise in business, technology, and fashion will help shape Fashion Exchange’s strategy. I’m also collaborating with a talented team of NYU students, bringing diverse skills to elevate the platform.
