What product or service does Breadcrumb offer?
Breadcrumb is an agentic business to business reporting platform. We empower businesses to scale personalized reporting to every customer, partner, and audience without a data team.

For example, we’re helping a premium ticketing platform personalize reporting to revenue and sales teams at hundreds of stadiums across North America. With Breadcrumb, their VP of partnerships can turn customer conversations into real-time insights. And their customers can add their own data to complete their business workflows - segment audiences, pace salesteams, optimize pricing, and automate reporting.

How did you come up with the idea for this business?
I first realized how business reporting is broken while leading an analytics consultancy. We built custom reports for sales, marketing, and human resource execs at companies like Amazon, McDonald’s, and Stripe. They would pay us over $100k to gather data, analyze, and visualize the results. But the process itself was broken. We needed analysts, designers and PMs to turn data into reports that made sense. But even then our customers needed their own arm of analysts to interpret and personalize the data to make decisions.

Why did you decide to participate in the HI Hub Incubator program?
Having access to HI Hub’s incredible network of expertise a cheat code. We know we can make a massive impact in hospitality and travel but we don’t have the industry network. HI Hub provides that bridge. I also absolutely love NYU. This is the community I want to grow and build with.

What do you enjoy most about creating your own startup?
I really love the whole entrepreneurial journey.

I’m a mission driven founder. My purpose comes from building value and impact.

I also love the autonomy, the challenge, the creativity to figure out better ways of doing things with fewer resources.

And in the daily work, I enjoy connecting with people. It’s a rare thing to meet people that you know you will enjoy and admire 20 years from now. But as an entrepreneur, you’re constantly meeting interesting people doing working on important problems.

What advice would you give to someone contemplating founding a startup?
Your team will determine your potential. Listen to the market. Rapidly test demand before building. The majority of startups fail because their team is incorrect or they don’t build something people want.

Learn if you enjoy the journey of building a company. Most of it is not glamorous.

Be weary of advice without context.

What is something you hope to learn through this process?
I want to learn how reporting works in the travel and hospitality industries and where Breadcrumb can best contribute.

What does the future of your startup look like in an ideal world?
We democratize access to insights for every stakeholder, across industries.

Have you worked with any alumni or mentors on this project? If so, who and what was that experience like?
Many. One of the most helpful has been Scott Kornfield, partner at WolfCycle. He’s introduced us to the sports world, and has been a safe space to talk through challenges. In every conversation he’s been actionable. This is what founders need - mentors that believe in them. We started by meeting monthly. When he felt he understood the business, he started making introductions. Recently he jumped onboard as an investor. It’s been incredible to have him in our corner and deepen our relationship over time.
