Build, complete, or revise your film or TV script in this intermediate-level workshop. Writers at any stage -- from early draft to polish -- receive feedback, develop pages, and explore today’s industry, including streaming, AI tools, and pitching.
This course is a workshop for writers developing original projects for film, TV, and streaming platforms. Designed for students with a foundational understanding of screenwriting, the class supports writers at any stage of the process -- whether beginning a script, working through a draft, or revising existing material.
Each student will work on their own screenplay or pilot, receiving detailed instructor feedback along with peer critique in a collaborative, discussion-based environment. The course is structured to help writers make meaningful progress on their material, whether that means building pages, completing a draft, or strengthening a script in progress.
In addition to workshopping, the class includes focused discussions on craft, as well as practical topics such as developing pitch decks, navigating today’s film and television landscape, and using emerging tools including AI in the writing process. Guest speakers, including past students whose projects have been featured on Netflix, Amazon, Criterion, and other platforms, will provide insight into the realities of the industry.
The emphasis is on forward movement. By the end of the course, students will have significantly advanced their project and developed tools to continue writing beyond the class.
Registering at least three weeks prior to the course start date is highly recommended.
