This course aims to equip students with an understanding of the main issues in the management of technological innovation and an appreciation of the relevant skills needed to manage innovation at both strategic and operational levels. This includes AI’s influence and Extended Reality (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality) It provides evidence of different approaches based on real-world sport industry examples and experiences of leading sport organizations. This course will enable students to develop an understanding of analytic frameworks for managing the innovation process. Students will develop an ability to design innovative strategies that can successfully take advantage of innovation opportunities in the sport industry. They will also learn how to evaluate different options, formulate, and develop strategies and assess and resolve challenges.
TGSC1-CE1014 Immersive Media in the Age of AI, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality will be discontinued after spring 2027. Students completing the Certificate in Sports Technology and Innovation should complete the core course Foundations of Digital Disruption by fall 2026. The three electives can be completed in spring 2027. The Certificate in Sports Technology and Innovation will be discontinued after spring 2027.
