Admissions Requirements
You must hold a US high school diploma or equivalent at the time of your enrollment.
You must submit transcripts from all high schools and colleges you have attended, even those from which you did not graduate. Your application is not complete and will not be eligible for review until your transcripts have been uploaded. You may upload unofficial transcripts as part of your application for admission; however, if you are admitted, you will be required to provide your official, final transcripts before beginning your classes. Your prior academic institutions must submit the final, official transcripts directly to NYU SPS, electronically or by mail.

- You are required to submit TOEFL/IELTS scores if you did not complete your high school diploma or associate degree at an institution where the language of instruction is English. The recommended TOEFL score is 100, and the recommended IELTS score is 7.0.
- TOEFL and IELTS scores are only valid for two years from the date of the test. If your test scores are more than two years old, you will need to re-test.
- If you studied at an international institution, you are required to submit a course-by-course evaluation.
- This evaluation compares your transcript to the US education system to ensure your academic experience is equivalent.
- NYU SPS will not accept course-by-course evaluations from agencies not on this list. The evaluation must be submitted directly from the agency.
- Applicants who earned an associate degree from a US institution are not required to submit an evaluation.
- Bachelor's degree applicants who do not hold a US associate degree are required to submit an international high school transcript and a course-by-course transcript evaluation from one of the approved agencies.

To apply to NYU SPS, prospective students must submit a completed application, which includes transcripts and a personal statement. Transfer students may be eligible for Guaranteed Admission to select NYU SPS degree programs. Our admissions team can provide more information about the specific requirements for transfer students.
The GPA required for admission to NYU SPS depends on the program and type of admission. For example, through our Guaranteed Admission program, students must meet certain criteria in addition to having a 2.8 GPA in high school for admission into certain Associate degrees, a 3.0 GPA in their most recently completed degree for admission into certain Bachelor’s degrees, and a 3.5 GPA in a completed bachelor’s degree for admission into certain Master’s degrees. Yes, if you’re interested in taking courses to gain further knowledge in a specific area without applying to a degree program, or if you plan to transfer course credits to another college, you may apply as a non-degree-seeking student. Review the admissions criteria for non-degree students above.
Note: This option is not available at the associate degree level.
Yes, we offer various online undergraduate degree programs. All Associate degree programs and our BA in Social Sciences, BS in Leadership and Management Studies, and BS in Information Systems programs can be completed entirely online. Online courses are an integral part of the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies educational experience, and, if you choose to pursue online study, our advisors can help you to develop an academic plan that balances your work and family obligations with the flexibility provided through online learning.

We offer Instant Decision Days monthly for applicants to meet with an admissions counselor and receive a decision on their application during the event. You must submit your application and transcripts two days prior to the event for processing, or else we cannot render a decision during the event.

Applicants to our Associate and Bachelor's degrees must have completed some college credit in order to apply to the fall semester. Applicants who have not completed any college coursework are welcome to apply to our spring semester.

In accordance with NYU’s sustainability efforts, the NYU School of Professional Studies only accepts electronically submitted documents. Recommenders should be encouraged to use the online recommendation form on your application to avoid processing delays.
Academic transcripts may be delivered directly from your undergraduate institution in one of two manners:
- Using an electronic delivery service (ie. Parchment, E-Scripts, National Student Clearinghouse).
- Emailed by your University Registrar’s Office to spsdocuments@nyu.edu.
If your university is unable to send transcripts electronically, please email the NYU SPS Office of Admissions at sps.admissions@nyu.edu for further instructions.

There’s no application fee for undergraduate admissions.
To be considered official, application materials must be sent to the Office of Admissions directly from the institution, testing service, or recommender.
For a transcript to be considered final official, it must be received directly from the university, have all final grades, and have a degree conferral date.
Unofficial transcripts can be submitted, for application review purposes, electronically by either the applicant or the institution. If you’re admitted based on an unofficial transcript and wish to enroll and register for coursework, you’ll be required to submit your official transcript that shows your degree conferral date prior to the end of your first term of enrollment.
What You Need to Know: TranscriptsYes, unofficial transcripts are sufficient for the application review process. In some cases, the Office of Admissions may request official documents for the review process and if needed, applicants will be notified. All admitted students will be required to submit official copies prior to enrollment.
Accepted students seeking transfer credits must adhere to the following deadlines to submit their official transcripts for the term to which they have been accepted:

All applicants who studied at an international institution must be able to demonstrate that they have completed the equivalency of a US high school diploma and for transfer credit eligibility into our programs.
When requesting an evaluation, please request a “course-by-course evaluation.” All transcripts must be evaluated by a recognized foreign educational credential evaluation from the list below.
Recommendations must come from either academic or professional sources. We encourage you to share some information with your recommendation providers about the program to which you are applying, so they can tailor their recommendation appropriately. We strongly recommend that you provide your recommender’s professional or academic email address when requesting your letters.
Should You Submit a Letter of Recommendation?Your recommender will be required to submit a recommendation using the online submission form found within the application portal. You will need to input their email address in the recommendation section of your application and your recommender will automatically receive an email from NYU containing a link and instructions on how to submit the online recommendation.
Should You Submit a Letter of Recommendation?Standardized tests such as the ACT or SAT are not required to apply for our DAUS undergraduate degree programs.
TOEFL/IELTS scores are required for applicants who did not complete a high school diploma or an Associate degree at an institution where the medium of instruction is English.

If you're accepted, you may request a deferral of your enrollment through the online enrollment form. Deferrals are typically granted only under extenuating circumstances and requesting a deferral does not automatically guarantee one. You may request a deferral up to one year from your original acceptance term.
Students who have been denied admission will not be permitted to reapply to any program at the School of Professional Studies for one academic year (this includes applying as a non-matriculant student).
Log into your application portal and click “Reply Form.” The online enrollment form is also accessible via your admissions letter.
As noted on your acceptance message, the tuition deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to your first term's tuition when you enroll. Your acceptance is only final once we receive your non-refundable deposit. The preferred methods of payment are credit card or electronic check.
