<p>Brian Laguardia just entered his sixth year at the United Nations where he has worked primarily on issues related to civil-military coordination and access and security to enable the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations in complex environments. Brian has over 15 years of professional experience in humanitarian organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies, including in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Ethiopia, and Nigeria.He most recently worked as the senior humanitarian civil-military coordination advisor for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in East Jerusalem.</p>
<p>In his prior life, Brian served in the US Army and worked as a New York City high school teacher. Brian was born in New York City and is a lover of photography and the New York Knicks. He's and passionate about travel, the outdoors, coffee, and food.</p>
I began my journey at SPS shortly after my military deployment to Iraq. For me, it marked a major step towards changing my career and committing to full-time work in humanitarian aid. NYU SPS equipped me with the necessary skills to navigate and adapt to the sector, along with the credibility to show employers that I was genuinely dedicated to making the transition
