A Liberal Arts Spin on STEM

Roksolana's academic career began with a BA in English and Political Science from Long Island University. However, her desire to pivot into the world of data and research led her to seek further education. Recognizing the need for technical skills to succeed in today's data-driven world, she chose to pursue an MS in Management and Systems at NYU. This decision was a significant turning point in her career, allowing her to transition from a liberal arts background into a field that is both challenging and rewarding.

NYU's MS in Management and Systems program provided Roksolana with the technical foundation she needed to excel in data analytics. The program was both a pathway to a new career and a transformative experience that allowed her to challenge herself, explore new industry fields, and build a network of professionals who would become instrumental in her career.

As I was preparing my supporting documents for the application, I met with my undergraduate advisor and professor to seek advice on graduate school programs and to see if I was making the right decision. He chuckled and said, 'Is that even a question? Of course, NYU! And this is what stayed with me: 'Get that degree, you will gain not only the technical experience but also a network that will be a driving force of your career trajectory.'"
Thriving as a Student at NYU SPS

Roksolana was deeply committed to both her academic and extracurricular activities while completing her studies at NYU SPS. She took full advantage of the opportunities available to her, participating in industry-led events like TechDuels, volunteering as an Orientation Leader, and even putting her creative skills to use as a graphic designer for the Management and Systems Student Association (MSSA).

Her leadership and dedication did not go unnoticed. Roksolana was named a Graduate Dean's Scholar, a recognition that highlighted her academic excellence and leadership potential. She also served as a student mentor, guiding higGraduate Student Speaker for the classh school students through their senior year and the college application process. One of the crowning achievements of her time at NYU was being named the NYU SPS Convocation Graduate Student Speaker for the class of 2021. Although she delivered her speech remotely due to the pandemic, she later had the opportunity to walk across the stage, a moment that symbolized her hard work and perseverance.

Building on a Solid Foundation in Data Analytics

Today, Roksolana's work as a Business Data Analyst at Peapack-Gladstone Bank involves defining and constructing a robust reporting infrastructure, a skill she honed through her coursework and project work in the MS program. As she takes the lead on work projects, she builds upon the technical foundation she gained during her time at NYU. The challenges of transitioning into the banking industry have been significant, but Roksolana's commitment to continuous learning has enabled her to navigate these obstacles with confidence and resilience.

Beyond her work at the bank, Roksolana also leads a research and data committee for a non-profit organization. In this role, she applies the same principles of data analytics and reporting to drive the organization's mission forward. Each small achievement in her career serves as a reminder that growth is a sequence of small steps toward a larger goal, and continuous learning is the key to success.
