MS Students Team Up with Department of Defense
MS in Global Security Conflict, and Cybercrime Students Tackle Critical National Security and Defense Issues

Practicum Partner: Department of Defense, Hacking for Defense (H4D)

Consulting Practicums at NYU SPS bring students face-to-face with top organizations and fast-paced, real-world problem-solving. This practicum, offered in partnership with Hacking for Defense (H4D), allows talented students to interact with the Department of Defense on special research and consulting-based work.

Through this hands-on learning opportunity, students examine some of the nation’s toughest security and defense problems. After being placed into teams, students interact with mentors from the sponsoring agency and get real-time feedback as they work to build creative solutions and minimal viable prototypes in response to these important challenges.

H4D pushes students beyond their comfort zones, stretching them intellectually and practically as they navigate the difficulties that naturally arise from working in multidisciplinary teams and at a faster tempo than what is common in most university classes.

Through this process, students acquire invaluable insights and build important connections in their field, while government sponsors glean new pathways to solutions for some of today’s toughest challenges.
