Certificate in Communications and AI (Accelerated)

If you are looking to gain practical skills to evaluate a wide range of AI technologies focusing on communication outcomes and contexts, this accelerated certificate may be right for you. In the program, you will build expertise in AI programs and the confidence to effectively utilize generative AI to advance critical work, writing, and communication goals. You will also learn to develop personal frameworks for responsible AI use, data analysis, research and media literacy, and AI ethics.

There are no prerequisites.

This accelerated certificate program focuses on high-impact applications and practical knowledge. You'll gain hands-on experience and technical know-how that will allow you to harness digital transformation, bolster job security, leverage generative AI to improve decision-making in marketing and communications, and realize your organization's strategic vision. 

Certificate programs can provide a lower financial investment compared to earning a master's or bachelor's degree. Communications professionals will learn to use AI-powered tools, AI platforms, and generative AI applications to integrate AI in order to maximize technical skills alongside traditional communication theory, such as consumer psychology. Career outcomes may include roles like digital communications manager or content strategist.

AI transformation and AI applications will continue to transform the workplace in the coming decade. While most job titles will remain the same, tasks such as writing reports and sorting data will be more automated. AI agents will assist their human counterparts in making data-driven decisions. Meanwhile, demand is projected to spike for system supervisors and professionals with the ability to apply deep learning, machine learning skills, and apply the use of AI-driven technologies and machine learning techniques within the communications field.

AI expertise grants professionals enhanced workflow efficiency by allowing them to use machine learning algorithms to automate administrative tasks and augment human capabilities. By developing a foundational understanding of how you can increase efficiency in the workplace via machine learning models and natural language processing (NPL), you'll possess the hands-on practice and in-demand skills to ensure career growth. AI courses and AI training includes ethical and responsible AI use regarding data science, copyright, and data privacy.

It’s preferable if you do, but you can still declare candidacy even after taking a course. Declaring candidacy does not commit you to completing it, but you will receive a 10% discount on future NYU SPS continuing education courses.

Assuming the course is part of the certificate, yes, but only if the course was taken within an acceptable time frame. The academic department gives students a specific amount of time to complete a certificate. The start date would be adjusted to the first class to which we applied the discount.  

Yes, if a student declares candidacy for a certificate and achieves an average overall grade of B or higher in courses counting toward the certificate, they will be awarded a certificate badge upon completion, which will be shareable on their resume and LinkedIn profile.

No, continuing education courses and certificates do not qualify for financial aid. 

Most continuing education programs do not count as credit toward a degree.
