Representatives from 30+ countries and 450 delegates participated in lively discussions on gender equality facilitated by global leaders.

Carolyn Kissane, associate dean of the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs, and Bri Newland, academic director and clinical associate professor, at the NYU SPS Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport, moderated and participated in sessions driven by collaborative, multistakeholder conversations meant to redefine our global responsibility to take the equality moonshot from ideas to solutions.

Carolyn Kissane speaking

The WWF is a US-based 501(c)(3) public charity with a global footprint in 20 countries, 15,000 members worldwide, and a vision to empower one million women and girls around the world by 2030. To do this, WWF launched the global moonshot initiative #EqualityMoonshot to reimagine an equal future using bold, innovative solutions to accelerate women’s leadership globally.

World Woman Davos Agenda sessions included:

The Health Equality Moonshot, where panelists discussed how to combat gender-related disparities in health.

The Future of India Moonshot session in which panelists discussed solutions to gender-related disparities in India and shaping the future for women in the country.

The Middle East Equality Moonshot session focused on gender-related issues in the region and the future of women in the Middle East.

The European Moonshot panel spotlighted regional equality issues and the promise for the future.

The Power of Inclusion and Equality Moonshot panel discussed gender disparities in the workplace.

The Global Cooperation and Equality Moonshot session discussed how to combat gender issues in global cooperation and the value of partnerships.

The Workforce Development and Equality Moonshot covered the future of work and the workplace for women.

Bri Newland speaking

In addition to the sessions, Carolyn Kissane moderated a fireside chat with Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand. Clark shared her journey to the upper echelon of national and global politics with attendees and how she built the resilience and inner strength to become a well-respected international leader.

As part of the collaboration with WWF on this initiative, NYU SPS—the event’s and foundation’s academic partner— created an Equality Moonshot Report to share key messages, takeaways, perspectives, and insights from session participants, and calls to action from each session. Bri Newland, who authored the report, presented the report’s details at a WWF World Woman Hour event in Los Angeles to close out Women’s History Month on March 31, 2023.
