NYU Duo Crowned Winners of the 2025 NFL Big Data Bowl
NYU SPS Tisch Institute student Smit Bajaj and NYU Stern's Vishakh Sandwar win the NFL's 2025 Big Data Bowl.

<p><span class="p-body">NYU SPS Tisch Institute student Smit Bajaj and NYU Stern's Vishakh Sandwar were crowned winners of the NFL's 2025 Big Data Bowl, where the NYU duo declared victory over more than 400 other participants. <br />

Each year, the NFL Big Data Bowl calls on professional and aspiring amateur data scientists to create new and innovative approaches to a specific challenge. Participants are then asked to submit statistical, data-driven solutions using real-time data that expands across a wide selection of players, plays and situations.</span></p>
<p><span class="p-body">"It is always rewarding to see months of work culminate in a moment like this. Vishakh and I truly enjoyed the process of building, which I believe is important. These results validate that work, but truthfully we had a blast working on the project regardless of the outcome,” says Bajaj.</span></p>
<p><span class="p-body">Using Next Gen Stats powered by Amazon Web Services, the Big Data Bowl aims to drive innovation and leverage emerging technologies to further the science of football analytics.</span></p>

We experimented with a digital whiteboard concept that lets users interactively change the positions/placements of all players on the field. We view this as the blend between the narrative and the numbers.
