The NYU SPS Management & Technology (M&T) Department is committed to providing students with opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom and into the professional world. One of the most impactful ways we do this is through our degree-adjacent opportunities—professional academic collaborations designed in partnership with industry leaders.

During the 2024-2025 academic year, M&T curated a dynamic lineup that included:

The Thon, a one-day event where students address a real organizational challenge, either as a Thinkathon (focused on strategy) or a Hackathon (focused on tech-driven solutions). These events include presentations by partner leadership and tours of organizational facilities, culminating in student presentations.

The Challenge, a four-week engagement where students collaborate in teams, working closely with mentors to refine their ideas into a final pitch presented to organizational leadership. Awards are given in categories such as innovation and presentation excellence.

The Skill Build, designed to immerse students in essential tools, strategies, and industry practices. These sessions often include company-led presentations, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities.

The Fellowship, a 14-week, non-credit professional experience pairing students with industry experts on active projects. Students dedicate 8–10 hours per week, developing mentor-mentee relationships and delivering a culminating presentation on their learnings.

The department oversees the full lifecycle of these initiatives, including application management, event planning, and program development. M&T works closely with professional partners to define academic goals and objectives that align with current market needs and industry trends. Our partners generously contribute resources such as mentorship, technology, workspace, and training, while the Division of Programs in Business (DPB) provides operational, promotional, and budgetary support.
