BBCC is designed for mid-career professionals from across the built environment who are already established in their fields and are looking to expand their impact beyond a single discipline or organization.
Fellows typically—though not exclusively—have 7–15 years of experience and come from backgrounds spanning design, development, finance, policy, tech, academia, and community leadership.
BBCC’s hybrid model is designed to unlock growth for both professionals and their organizations.
Fellows break out of silos, expanding their leadership capacity, networks, and creative range while co-producing innovations with peers and faculty. On completion, Fellows gain NYU alumni status and join an enduring network of professionals committed to advancing urban transformation.
For organizations, BBCC offers applied R&D that can open new opportunities, strengthen talent retention, and enhance brand leadership through participation in reviews, publications, and the Consortium network.
The program is designed to create ripple effects of impact—from Fellow to Organization, Profession, People, and the Planet.
BBCC is structured to deliver value across three organizational budgets—R&D, staff development, and marketing—aligning learning, research, and impact within a single program.
The standard fellowship fee is $6,000 per semester, with discounted rates available to support access and diversity across practices of different types and scales.

For larger organizations with a pipeline of emerging leaders, BBCC offers consortium membership as a multi-year commitment.
Consortium members hold a seat on the Consortium Board, help shape longer-term research themes, and nominate Fellows across successive cycles—connecting industry R&D priorities with university research capacity.
