The Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) awards credit for college-level learning comparable in content and learning outcomes to courses offered for credit. We also award credit for professional and studio/performance experience in non–liberal arts areas such as fine arts, music, theater, dance, film production, photography, journalism, computer science, and business.
DAUS allows students to bring a maximum of 80 credits into a bachelor’s degree and 30 into an associate’s degree.
NOTE: There are no maximum credits awarded for prior learning in any single area of knowledge.
Once you are enrolled, your adviser can help you apply for credit for prior learning. There are 3 main ways to do this.
Learn more about SPS policy for credit for prior learning.
For any questions about the process, please connect with DAUS Academic Advising at appliedug.advising@nyu.edu.
